In today's gospel we see the confusion that Jesus causes in people's lives. When he casts out devils some think it is a sign of God working through him while others see it as a sign that he is in league with the devil.
Jesus does that to us all. He causes us to be elated at times when we see his work in our lives and at other time, when we want our own way, he causes us to be confused.
The problem does not lie with Jesus. The confusion that Jesus causes in our lives comes about when his goodness and obedience to the Father's will highlights for us our own evil desires. Then we have to find some way of shifting the blame and we do so by saying that Jesus' way is silly, old fashioned or just wrong.
Jesus is the creator of life and the giver of life. When we are challenged and we come up with all sorts of reasons for our actions, we should stop, look at Jesus and ask our selves, do our actions conform to the teachings of Jesus. You can use the phrase "What would Jesus do?".If they don't match, change your ways.
