In today's reading Jesus tells his apostles about the attitude they should take to missionary work; "Proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is close at hand."
What does this mean for us?
It means that we have access to the kingdom, or else Jesus could not say that it is close at hand. When we submit to God's will, when we act out of love for others, then we are living in the kingdom. "Kingdom principles" come first; these are love of God and neighbour. There is good news in Jesus. The good news is that we are so special to God that he loves us and wants us to be at peace in this world and experience eternal bliss in the next.
Why shouldn't we proclaim this message?
