This piece of scripture, especially verses 3&4 have become very famous because they are the verses that John Paul the Great used at the beginning and as the centre of his Theology of the Body.
Jesus prohibits divorce and what is incomprehensible to the Pharisees is that he interprets Scripture for them. He elevates marriage onto a new plain and gives the woman equality with the man, something unheard off in those days.
Of all teachers down the ages, Jesus is the one person who insists on the rights of women and the poor. He still does but the world will not listen. Plenty of food in India but millions of children die of starvation every year. Feminism tries to make women the same as men, that's its big mistake, and in so doing degrades all that makes a woman special. Jesus should be well listened to and his words not misrepresented.
