Gospel of Luke 21:34-36 Reflection;
Jesus tells us to watch ourselves or our hearts shall become coarse with debauchery and drunkenness. And again he warns us to stay awake and be ready for the day that we are called to account.
The more we read scripture the more we should see that Jesus says plainly that every person living on the face of the earth will have to give an account of their life. It is amazing how many times he says this and still we live as if it is never going to happen.
Jesus even goes further today and tells us to pray for the strength to go on 'till the end. These final few days of the year remind us a lot of the justice of God and how seriously we should take his command to love one another.
As we enter the new Church season of Advent, the focus shall change to images of longing and love. But the two images are opposite sides of one coin. The Church says that we should look at each side.
Perhaps we should heed it!
