Gospel Reflection: On personal behaviour issues, the teaching of Jesus is very practical. Today we are told about not judging others and that before we do so we should look at our own lives. One of the most sobering things a Christian can think about is the fact that no one can stand too close a scrutiny. With each of us, you do not have to go too deep before you find many flaws. If this is the case then how can we judge others? We are always quick to notice the splinter in the other person's eye. There is that feeling of superiority that comes form knowing another's mistakes..."I am not like him!" But Jesus knows us better than that. He tells us to look at our own sins first. And what is more - Jesus tells us that the judgements we give is the judgement we shall receive. That is sobering when you think of it, as well as being a stern warning!
