The first and second readings today speak of God's promises to us. Paul prays that we are open to knowing the mystery that God has hidden from the beginning of time;the riches in store for us and of his power and work in Jesus.
In the gospel, Jesus promises that anyone who proclaims him on earth he shall proclaim in heaven. Could you beat that promise? If we are not ashamed of him as we walk this earth he shall not be ashamed of us when he sees us coming to the gates of heaven.
But the gospel also says that the opposite holds true; if we are ashamed of him and his teachings here on earth then he shall disown us when we come to judgement.
Sounds harsh, but we decide what our address is in the next life while we live on earth. What will your address be?
