Gospel of Luke 8:16-18 Reflection:
Jesus tells us that no one lights a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed but that he puts it on a stand for all to see. Jesus has lit the lamp; the lamp is the Church and the teaching of Jesus held within the Church. Everything shall be judge and seen in the light of that teaching and every action of ours shall be judged by what we saw and heard from the Church.
Jesus further warns us to be careful to listen diligently making sure that what we hear is the real message.
If we hear correctly, with an open heart, it shall bear fruit and the word and understanding of the word of God shall grow in our hearts. But if we listen wrongly, putting our own selfish interpretations on God's word then it shall never bear fruit in our hearts.
