In this last week of the church yea,r the readings talk of the end times and judgement. Today Jesus says that even the beautiful Temple of the Jews shall be left in ruins, with not one stone on top of another. To the Jews this would have been a terrible sign as the Temple was the sign of the Jewish religion.
Jesus also warns against false prophets and teachers. He warns of wars and tragedies. And he tells us not to be afraid. Again, as so often in other passages, he tells us not to be afraid. We are to trust in the Lord and keep on going to the end, believing that everything is under his control and he will care for us no matter what.
It is in the time of crisis that we see where our real trust lies. We fail many times in the small trials that come our way but Jesus gives us the grace for the big trials in life when we need it, not before. We have to trust that he shall do so even when things look their bleakest. We should never give up trusting!
