Feast of Sts Peter and Paul
I remember once asking an old monk, "How do we know the resurrection is true?"
"Peter and Paul" he replied, "before the resurrection one was a coward and the other a Christian hunter, but when they met the resurrected Christ they totally changed."
I had never thought of this before. Peter turned onvernight from denying Jesus to proudly proclaiming him. Paul was a Christian hunter, on the way to Damascus to imprison and even kill followers of Jesus. Ten seconds in heaven utterally changed him. After his meeting with the resurrected Christ he was never the same again.
Next time you look at, reflect on, or read about these two men, bear these facts in mind. You see them and the resurrection in a whole new light.
People don't die for a lie. A dream, maybe. A cause, sometimes. But a lie--no way! The resurrection is a fact and Peter and Paul are the best proof of this great Christian truth.
