Reading I: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, 9-11
Responsorial: Psalms 27:1, 4, 13-14
Gospel: Luke 4:31-37
... and yet, the people questioned who he was: 'He gives orders to unclean spirits with authority, and power and they come out.' We know that this frame of thought in the upcoming Scriptures, led the Pharisees to state that only someone possed by the evil spirit could drive evil spirits away.
This makes me realize how miracles alone are not sufficient to understand who Jesus is. By our own reasoning, it seems that we cannot make the leap of faith required to understand how God could come down to earth and walk amongst us. We talk amongst ourselves of events but can only phathom reality based upon our understanding, not with an understanding based on Grace.
Let us take today's Gospel and ponder on the Word of God made flesh ... Jesus who did miracles and taught the Word ... and let us thank God for his love of us...and His patience!
