Jesus tells us to stay awake and be alert, for we do not know at what hour the burglar or the master shall come.
We always hear this as a message about being prepared for death. Perhaps there is a more happy way of looking at this passage. As we journey through life we meet Jesus in many ways. We meet him in the poor, the lonely or the sick. If we are not paying attention to the needs of others and we are not aware of what is really going on around us we are going to miss Jesus in our neighbour when we have a chance to see him.
Jesus is always about. Its just that we are too busy to recognise him. Its a pity that we miss so many opportunities because we are not awake.
