Today's first reading contains one of my favourite lines of scripture; "And indeed, what great nation is there that has its gods so near as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call him?" These words are enough to set the heart of a sinner racing. Our God, the maker of the universe, the Lord of all is as close as a call. There is something of the love of God and the dignity of man in this phrase. The God who holds all creation in being by an act of his will, hears my feeble voice when I call on his name. Am I worthy of such dignity? I don't feel so, but God in his love, cares so deeply about each one of us that he considers us worth listening too. And if God considers us worth listening too should we not listen to each other????
