Two short parables about the Kingdom of Heaven; the mustard seed and the yeast. Jesus is saying that the kingdom starts off small and grows. Sometimes the root of the kingdom in our lives is only a question; why am I here? It could be this or an event, a death or an accident that makes us ask what is really going on in life.
The answer we get to our question always leads to another question. This is the dialogue of faith and it goes on every day of our lives. We wonder and marvel at the work of God in our lives and in the lives of others.
Luke says it brilliantly earlier in his gospel, "Mary pondered these things in her heart." The life of a Christian is based a lot on reflection. Reflecting on God and his word. And gradually the questions grow and the kingdom grows in your heart.
The kingdom of God in our lives grows as we enter more and more into the life of the kingdom through prayer and reflection and carrying out what God tells us to do.
