Today, Jesus continues his monologue about who he is. The Jews refuse to accept the testimonoy of John, the proof of his miracles and the testimony of Jesus himself. Jesus even points out that the scriptures testify to him telling them that Moses, who was the Law Giver of the old dispensation, shall stand before God and condemn them. In this passage there can be no doubt that the battle lines are well and truly drawn for the showdown coming in Jerusalem. Jesus was no fool and he knew he was putting his life and mission on the line. But Jesus held to the truth. That is the great characteristic of Jesus, his absolute devotion to the truth. In a short time it shall cost him his life!
