To me, today's Gospel brings out the interplay of prayer and action. Our faith needs to be grounded in both. Scripture shows us that before Jesus performs a miracle, he spends time praying. Have you ever wondered why Jesus would need to pray?
We might get a glimpse of the reason in today's Gospel; Jesus walks on water, stills the storm and his disciples are afraid of him. Jesus would need to have been filled a-plenty with the Holy Spirit in order for himself not to loose heart. He is performing these miracles and not only are strangers not getting it, but his own disciples are not understanding the significance either.
Life's journey for us can also be confusing. We need to follow the example given to us by Jesus in order not to loose heart. Remember the power of prayer; we need to get in the habit of praying to help us especially during the difficult times of our lives.
Simple prayers you can say;
- Jesus, I trust in You
- Jesus, help me
- My Lord, My God
- Help me Jesus
