Today we have the story of Mary and Martha. At first sight it appears that Jesus is saying that prayer is better than work, when he tells Martha that Mary has chosen the better part. I wonder if this interpretation is true.
There are times when our spirit moves us to prayer, times when something deep inside calls us to stop and give time to God. Jesus is with Mary and Martha. That makes this moment a very special one. It is not to be missed.
There are times when Jesus is with us in a special way: at Mass, at a Christening or that special moment when Jesus touches us through a moonlit night or a beautiful sunset.
Perhaps Jesus is telling us that when moments like this arise that we should not let cares of the world lead us away from the joy and beauty we see and feel at that time.
Work has to be done, but God is to be enjoyed as well!
