Acts 5:27-33 Reflection:
Today's reading from Acts shows us Peter and the Apostles proclaiming Jesus Christ, alive, and that it was 'the God of our ancestors who raised up Jesus'.
Peter stated 'Obedience to God comes before obedience to men'.
The resurrection followed by Pentecost created such a life changing attitude in the apostles. It truly made these people born again...they were alive and burning with fire and filled with the Holy Spirit.
With today's journalism and news reporting, have you ever asked yourself if the Holy Spirit's zeal has gone away from today's society? Well, one theory might be that news coverage is given to 'sensational stories' - those which are negative.
We have to remember that the Holy Spirit works in everyone's individual heart. The Holy Spirit depends on our actions, just like Peter responded two thousand years ago.
Take time and think about how you have responded (or not) to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Pray to receive the courage and the will power to proclaim the Good News next time the opportunity comes your way.
