Gospel of John 6:34-40 Reflection:
Today's gospel contains some of the Lord's most wonderful promises:
"He who comes to me will never be hungry, he who believes in me will never thirst...whoever comes to me I shall not turn him away...whoever believes in me has eternal life and I shall raise him up on the last day."
This is what we mean when we say that the Christian faith is a faith in a person, Jesus. We believe that Jesus can do what he promises, feed us, give us spiritual drink and raise us up on the last day.
In rising from the dead, Jesus took us with him out of death to new life. Our baptism is the sacramental sign of this action; we have died and risen with Jesus, now we only have to wait to experience it in time.
The teaching of our faith is incredible. No wonder we need faith to understand it!!
