Gospel of John 6:52-59 Reflection:
Today we have two of the most beautiful readings in all of scripture, the conversion of St Paul and Jesus talking about the Eucharist.
Saul hated the new religion and did all he could to destroy it. On his way to Damascus to do harm to the faith, he was knocked off his high horse and came face to face with Jesus.
You do not meet Jesus and stay the same! When Saul came "back" from that meeting he was a changed man, he now draws life from Jesus.
In the gospel we have the most beautiful line in all scripture: (v58) "As I, who am sent by the Father, myself draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me shall draw life from me."
The source of all life is the Father. Jesus draws life from the Father and we draw life from him, so we are in direct line to the Father. Through Jesus we are one step away from the Father.
Now that is some thought!
