In Today's Gospel, Jesus talks about the bread the Jews received in the desert; he says Moses did not give this bread but that his Father in heaven gave it to them. He goes on to say that the "true bread" is the bread that comes down from heaven and when the Jews ask for this bread Jesus says that he is the bread that has come from heaven. "I am the bread of life" Pretty definite that statement, ain't it.
Not a lot of room for doubt. But so many choose to refuse this bread. Even non Catholics refuse to accept the advice of their conscience, thereby cutting themselves off from God. Going to Mass is such a great gift. Jesus comes to meet us, body and soul, and we take it so lightly. Strange things, we humans. We cry to God to come to us and when he does, in the Eucharist, so many Catholics, who should know better, choose to ignore him.
