Acts 4:1-12 Reflection:
This reading is probably one of the most amazing texts in all of scripture. Peter and John, after the resurrection and Pentecost are preaching in the Temple about the risen Lord when they are arrested by the Temple police.
The interesting point is what happens next. They are brought before the Sanhedrin, the same people who met the night they killed Jesus, and the people that Peter was afraid of and before whom he denied the Lord.
But not this time. This time Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, confronts the High Priest and the others with what they have done.
What changed in the few weeks since Jesus died?
What turned a coward into a hero?
A man does not change from one extreme to the other unless something powerful, (full of power) enters his life.
This story from Acts shows us vividly the affect of the resurrection on the men who followed Jesus. The question we have to ask ourselves is, does the resurrection have the same effect on our lives?
