Jesus warns his listeners (and that includes us) to be on guard against hypocrisy. I've heard many people comment how the actions of some in the Church is the reason they have left the Church - and that means they have left communion with God through Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. They have suspended such a grace-filled event - because of encountered hypocrisy in another.
Our faith needs to be rooted on what Jesus taught rather than on a person's action. Why? We have all sinned - and all of us will continue throughout our life to fall short.
Have you heard the phrase "O but for the Grace of God go I"? It is powerful. When we recognize that we have sinned, become humbled and ask forgiveness...we can start showing empathy for others (maybe ourselves) for the sins committed. We need to pray. Life is not easy - we have to realize the power of prayer and we should pray for all souls in this world going through difficult situations, troubled, in pain, anxiety...the list goes on.
When you pray for yourself - that is one voice reaching God. When we pray for each other - all of a sudden, there are many voices entreating God's ear on your behalf.
Pray and trust in Him..
