These joyful thoughts occur all throughout Advent as we await the birth of the Lord. They reflect what Luke spoke about when he said that a joyful expectancy covered the whole world in the years leading up to the birth of the Lord. Seemingly this expectancy was felt in other parts of the world as has been seen in ancient writings. It appears that thinkers everywhere were awaiting some great divine intervention in history. This is why we should not be surprised by the story of the three wise men; God could not enter the world without the world being fundamentally changed forever, just as Jesus cannot enter our lives without us also being changed to the very core!
