READING I: James 2:14-24, 26
RESPONSORIAL: Psalms 112:1-2, 3-4, 5-6
GOSPEL: Mark 8:34-9:1
Think of the biggest cross we have to carry. It is simply our fallen nature. Our sin and our selfishness is what makes up the most of our cross. In my case I want so much, I can't wait til the right time, I want it now! I am impatient, easily annoyed and selfish. These are the main crosses I have to carry and it is in dealing with these things that make up the bulk of my spiritual effort. Today, thank God, I am in good health, I am reasonably financially secure and I have enough food. In comparison to a billion people my cross is light; and still I would moan. Dear Lord, what would I be like if I had a real cross to carry?
