READING: 1 Kings 3:4-13
RESPONSORIAL: Psalms 119:9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
GOSPEL: Mark 6:30-34
Second, when Jesus sees the large crowd he tales pity on them for they are "Like sheep without a shepherd." Then he sat himself to teach them at some length. Jesus knew that the most important thing he could do at that moment was to teach these poor lost people that God loved them and he simply sat down and did so; no fuss no drama. It reminds me of the humility our current Pope displayed in England and how this humility completely overcame the antagonism of the press and disarmed utterly the hatred of the atheists. We Christians still need to learn that our duty is to proclaim the Word of God (with love) and allow God the Holy Spirit to do the rest!
