(Year II) Wednesday
Gospel Reading: Mark 4:1-20
Today we have the parable of the sower. Jesus uses a parable to explain the different dispositions our heart can take when hearing the Word of God.
Everyone is blessed by hearing the Word of God and it is the disposition of the our heart that will determine what happens next. Again, as in yesterday's readings, we come to realize that God is someone who respects our dignity and decisions. He offers us the means but we have to decide what to do with it.
In the parable of the sower, we hear the different ways the seed grows to a certain point, some wither away or are dried up. What I got out of the reading was the urgency and need for us to always nurture our spiritual life. Our faith is not something stagnant, something that was received in the past and doesn't need to be cared after.
Is our life in 'good soil'? Do we make time to pray every day, to do acts of kindness? Are we always searching to understand God's will in our lives and then do it?
