Gospel of Matthew 11:25-27 Reflection:
In both readings today we have the promise of revelation. Moses sees the burning bush and approaches it. God tells him that it is He, the God if Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who is there.
Moses has met God. This is the great meeting of God and his people in the Old Testament.
Jesus, on the other hand, brings a totally new revelation of the Father. The God of Moses was a God who saves his people through his great power--the God of Jesus is a Father.
From now on Jesus reveals the father to whomsoever he chooses. Whereas with Moses the revelation was direct, now with Jesus, we have an image of the Father to see and learn from.
God reveals himself directly to Moses in the form of a burning bush.
Jesus reveals the Father to us through his love for us.
That is a big difference!
