In this week leading up to Pentecost, the talk is of the Holy Spirit and what he shall do when he comes upon us. Jesus must go to the Father so that the Spirit may come upon us. The Spirit is the one that lets us know that everything that Jesus said is true. He confirms all that Jesus said and did. The Spirit also strengthens us. He gives us the ability to go on in the face of persecution and mockery.
This virtue and gift of the Spirit is as necessary today as it was 2000 years ago. People still need the gift of the Spirit to continue the struggle in the face of all the mockery in the media and in society in general. And as the secular agenda gathers strength, this gift shall become ever more necessary. The Spirit bring to mind the things about Jesus that we need to remember just at the time we need too, not before or after. If we trust in the work of the Spirit in our lives all theses things shall fall into place.
