Reading I: Wisdom 3:1-9 Responsorial: Psalms 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6
Reading II: Romans 5:5-11 Gospel: John 6:37-40
This is the day we remember all our dead who are still not in heaven but in purgatory. We remember them, especially those who have no one left here on earth to pray for them.
We pray today that all who have died before us, our families and friends, that they may see the sight of God and may enter into eternity. Jesus promises us "that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life".
Today, being All Souls Day, in communion with the whole Church, let us take time out from our busy activities and pray for those who have gone before us (family, friends, those that have no one to pray for them) and entreat Jesus to have mercy on their souls.
